Ms. Julie Ciccarone
Supervisor of Guidance
Ms. Ciccarone is excited to be joining the Lacey Township Guidance Department as the new Supervisor of Guidance. Her passion for helping others is the reason why she chose the field of counseling, a field that has allowed her to assist students in achieving their academic and personal goals. Ms. Ciccarone graduated from Rutgers University with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology and from Kean University with her master’s degree in Counselor Education. Additionally, she holds certifications as a Director of School Counseling and a Substance Awareness Coordinator. Ms. Ciccarone comes to Lacey with many years of high school experience from Biotechnology High School, an International Baccalaureate World School, and Wall Township High School. These experiences have provided a lens that is very unique and one that has helped her build a strong foundation of experiences in guidance/school counseling services and programs. She is very excited to have joined the Lacey Township community and looks forward to working with you during the school year ahead.

Mrs. Stephanie Cook
Mrs. Stephanie Cook is an experienced school counselor since 2004, and is proudly serving her second year here at Lacey Township High School. Her academic resume includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Dickinson College, as well as a Masters of Education and an Education Specialist Degree from James Madison University. As a resident of Lacey, she is thrilled to be working in her own community. Mrs. Cook’s primary goal as your child’s school counselor is to promote their academic, personal, and social development. Helping students feel secure personally and emotionally enables her to work with them to set meaningful academic goals.
Mrs. Barbra DeChiaro
Mrs. Barbara DeChiaro has been a school counselor at Lacey Township High School since 1998. Mrs. DeChairo feels that adolescence is a time of rapid change and growth for all teenagers. It also presents many challenges for today’s youth. She feels her role as a school counselor encompasses not only academic planning but also personal growth. She enjoys working with her students and helping them take the necessary steps needed to achieve their full potential as future adults. Mrs. DeChiaro graduated from Caldwell College with a degree in biology and obtained a master’s degree from Georgian Court College. Mrs. DeChiaro also holds a New Jersey certification in student personnel services.
Mrs. Leah Purpuri
Mrs. Leah Purpuri is serving in her second year as a school counselor with Lacey Township High School and has a background in guidance in various districts. Her other work experience includes non-profit administration and caseload management. Mrs. Purpuri’s academic résumé includes Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Arts degree in Counseling with a School Counseling concentration–both from Messiah College. Mrs. Margaret Rand
Mrs. Margaret Rand welcomes you to the Lacey Township High School Guidance Department! Mrs. Rand feels privileged to be a school counselor here, working with families to promote the academic and personal success of all students. Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Rowan University and a master’s degree from Monmouth University with certifications as a School Counselor and Supervisor. Though her career began in the corporate world, Mrs. Rand quickly found her true passion is supporting others in their journey to success. Helping others to maximize their potential and opportunities is far more rewarding to her than producing a bottom line. Mrs. Rand has many years of experience as a classroom teacher at the elementary and middle school levels and all of these varied experiences have provided her with a strong foundation and background to provide comprehensive school counseling services to students and families.
Mr. David Rivera
Mr. Rivera is entering his second year as a School Counselor at Lacey Township High School. He has a masters degree from Kean University in Counseling Education. He has prior clinical experience, including crisis counseling and behavioral assistance and is awaiting receipt of his Student Assistance Counselor certification. His patience, compassion and desire to make a difference is what drives Mr. Rivera every day.
Ms. Elyse Winkle
Ms. Elyse Winkle is a committed and enthusiastic School Counselor who previously served 5 years at Lanoka Harbor Elementary School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Montclair State University followed by a Masters of Education with a school counseling certification from Georgian Court University. Ms. Winkle also holds certifications as a Student Assistance Counselor, Supervisor, and Director of Guidance. As a lifelong learner, Ms. Winkle aims to positively motivate, guide, and counsel students through focusing on each individual students’ needs throughout their high school experience.
High School Student Assistant Coordinators
Mrs. Kelly Brown
Mrs. Kelly Brown has been a Student Assistance Counselor for the past 15 years. Prior to Lacey High School, Mrs. Brown was a SAC at The Collier School, a Prevention Education Specialist at Prevention First and an Orientation Counselor/Family Program Coordinator with The New Hope Foundation Adolescent Unit. Mrs. Brown has an MA of Holistic Health Studies from Georgian Court University where her thesis focused on anxiety and stress management. Mrs. Brown is happy to teach students techniques and strategies to quell anxiety and relieve stress. Mrs. Brown is currently the President of ASAP-NJ and an active member of The Lacey Township Municipal Alliance.
Mr. Thomas Faulkner
This is Mr. Faulkner’s 4th year as a Student Assistance Counselor @Lacey Township High School. He received his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and Substance Awareness Certification (SAC) from Kean University. Mr. Faulkner is also a mental health screener at the NJ Department of Human Services and a NJ Disaster Response Crisis Counselor. He is also a member of the Lacey Township Municipal Alliance, the Lacey Township Task Force and the Ocean County Emergency Response Committee. Mr. Faulkner is also the Head Softball Coach at Lacey Township High School, A Challenger League Coach and assists with the high school’s Fishing Club.
